Je gebruikt de present continuous voor de future als je het hebt afspraken in de toekomst/ iets wat zeker gaat gebeuren.

De tijd en/of plaats staan al vast!

I am meeting Karlijn at the pub this weekend.

We are flying to New York tomorrow.

To be going to + hele werkwoord

Je kunt ook 'to be going to' voor the future gebruiken. Je gebruikt 'to be going to' wanneer je een plan hebt maar deze nog niet vaststaat (geen tijd of plaats).

Maar ook voor dingen waarover je zelf geen controle hebt, zoals het weer.
