Learn how to scan
Scan the text

Then read the questions

Scan for specific words

Slide 3 - Slide

Scan the text.
Find out what  the text is about, what points do they make in the text.
Then read the questions. Most of the time you only need a global understanding of the text, to answer the questions.
Almost in all cases they will mention certain lines in which you can find the answer to the question. I would suggest that you read those lines carefully and then answer the question.
I would say that it is a waste of your time to thoroughly read the entire text and then continue to the question. Because you might go to overthinking and overreading before you even have had the change to read the questions.
Don't multitask while reading

Focus on reading

Slide 4 - Slide

Multitasking during the exam.
Stop thinking about other stuff, just focus on your exam. Lots of students come to me after the exam to tell me that they couldn't focus during there exam.
Just try to drop everything during you exam, no sorrows for you during the exam.
Once you are distracted, it is hard to get back into the reading. Just focus on your exam and nothing else.

3. eliminate answers

Eliminate wrong answers

Slide 5 - Slide

One of the best tips I have is to eliminate answers. If you are not sure which answer is correct. Just focus on the answers that are not correct, this way you might eliminate the answer that you were doubting about.
Sometimes answers may look a like, then you have to focus on the words that are different, sometimes it is just something small that isn't mentioned in the text.
This is both for reading and listening.
Tips and tricks

Slide 6 - Mind map

What kind of tips and tricks do you use during reading. Share them with your fellow students.
It may sound stupid, but.....

Slide 7 - Slide

Make sure you read the entire question. Focus on the words NOT in a question. Sometimes you want to go to fast and you miss this small word, which makes it a total different question.
This is both for reading and listening, make sure you read the entire question, check it again to make sure!

Slide 8 - Slide

You are often given false information first that sounds as if it could be the answer to the question. An instance of this is where the information given matches one of the answers, but does not fit the criterion given in the question- the person could be talking about last week, say, when the question asks about next week. The correct information usually, but not always, comes afterwards.
Eat, sleep, read, repeat

Slide 9 - Slide

Make sure that you have a good night of sleep!
Please make sure that you had a good breakfast and lunch, because your brain can't focus on a empty stomach. Make sure you bring a bottle of water into the exam.
Do try to read a bit of English this week, it helps you to prepare for the exam. You can use Facet, or you can just read a normal book.
Repeat, try to start this routine during the weekend, this way you are well prepared for the exam!
