King Charles was crowned on the sixth of May. What do you know about King Charles III?

You're going to watch a news item on the crowning of Charles III. You'll come across some (new) words: 

*Coronation = kroningsceremonie 

*anointed = gezalfd (als olie wordt aangebracht) 

*cloak = mantel / gewaad 

*Orb  = Een soort bol (met goud bedekt)

*sceptre = een soort kort staf..

Assignment: 

Which events took place during King Charles III's Coronation? Name at least three events. They are part of British traditions.

Welke evenementen vonden plaats tijdens de kroning van Koning Charles III?  Noem er minstens 3! Ze maken onderdeel uit van Britse tradities.

What did I do during the May break? 

I had a lot of lie-ins. I dearly needed some sleep haha. 

I celebrated King's Day in Rotterdam. The city was packed with people and unfortunately I missed out on the King and Queen's appearance on the stage near the Market Hall. Also, I  ate some great food at that same indoor Market Hall. Furthermore, I bought myself a book at a giant bookstore that is located in an old church building in Zwolle. On the third of May, I celebrated my 33rd birthday in 's Hertogenbosch. We went on a guided boat tour on the underground city canals  (the city has many small medieval canals that run underneath the foundations of the city). On the fifth of May, I shortly visited the festival grounds of the Liberation Day Festival at the city park. At the weekend, I played paddle tennis with my family (this is something I hadn't done in a while!).

*we hebben in de afgelopen lessen geleerd dat je de verleden tijd maakt door een -ed achter het werkwoord te plakken. Dit lijkt een beetje op wat we in het Nederlands doen. Dan zet je - de(n) achter een sterk werkwoord en een -te(n) achter een zwak werkwoord.. In het Engels is dat in bijna alle gevallen een -ed. 

-Ik werk in de kas.  - Ik werkte in de kas.    (I worked at the greenhouse)

-Ik droog de was. - Ik droogde de was.     (I dried the laundry).
