What is the difference?
Present Simple
1a - I usually take a bus to school.  (FACT/HABIT)

Present Continuous
1b - I'm not taking a bus these days though, with this COVID-19 business. (BREAK FROM HABIT)
1c - You're always complaining! Just shut up! (IRRITATION)

Past Simple
2a - I went to school yesterday. (ACTION FINISHED - WHEN = MENTIONED)

Present Perfect
2b - I've gone to school since I turned four years old. (ACTION STILL GOING ON)

3a - I was watching the news yesterday when the doorbell rang (LONGER ACTION INTERRUPTED BY SHORTER ACTION)
3b - He was doing the dishes while she was watching TV. (TWO LONGER ACTIONS GOING ON AT THE SAME TIME)

Past Simple
4a -  I took my bike, picked up my friend and then went to school.(SERIES OF EVENTS - 3 OR MORE - IN THE PAST)

Past Perfect
4b - Before I went to school, I had already gone to the gym. (STH. HAPPENED BEFORE STH ELSE)

Signal words tenses

Present Simple  (I/you/we/they = verb; he/she/it = verb + s)
1a - usually, always, never, sometimes, now and then, etc. (FACT/HABIT)

Present Continuous (am/is/are + verb + ing)
1b -  these days, currently, for the time being, this week, this period etc. (BREAK FROM HABIT)
1c - always/never ! (IRRITATION)

Past Simple (regular verbs = verb + ed; irregular verbs: 2nd form -> study!!!)
2a - yesterday, ago, last night, in 1980 etc.. (ACTION FINISHED - WHEN = MENTIONED)

Present Perfect (regular verbs = verb + ed; irregular verbs: 3rd form -> study!!!)

Shall

Present Simple (Timetables)
The train leaves at 10 am. (arrival/departure times)
The store closes at 9 pm. (opening/closing times)
Classes start at 8.10 am. (beginning/ending times)

Going to
I bought eggs, butter, flour and milk. We're going to bake some pancakes for supper this evening. (planned, preparations have been made)
Look at these clouds: it's going to rain soon! (prediction based on evidence)

Shall
Shall I/we pick you up tonight? (questions We/I)

Present Continuous (Appointment/Diary - between now-week)
We are meeting Hillary for supper tonight.
She's throwing a party next Friday.
Are you joining us later this evening?

Workfare should be abolished
The government's workfare schemes involve compulsory work for people who claim unemployment benefits




CON: 
Some companies  are getting free menial (= of low social value such as washing dishes/cleaning floors) labour without 
offering wages or even new skills.


PRO
The principle is that everyone needs to work for their income should be enforced by the government

Welfare

Sentence examples:

On Benefit(s)/to receive benefit(s)
 UK = benefit
US =  benefits

the money given by the government to people who need financial help, 
for example because they cannot find a job:
unemployment benefit


Sentence examples:
  • I'm on benefit at the moment.
  • If they could not prove they were looking for work, they could lose their benefit.
  • Employees need to pay taxes to qualify for any unemployment benefits if they lose their jobs.
