Past simple- past continuous

Yesterday, I bought a house! What did you do? Write: "Yesterday, I..."

When talking about yesterday, you mostly write your sentences using the past simple (verleden tijd).

Remember: 

Past simple = verb + ed (played) / irregular 2nd (wrote)

Past continous

- The past continuous tense is used to describe actions that began in the past and often continued for a short period of time after the action started. 

- In Dutch: "Ik was aan het werken" / "Wij waren TV aan het kijken"

How to write the past continuous

To be (was/were) + infinitive (hele ww) + ing

Examples

Xander was recording his English video when his mother came in.

While Mr. Hulshof was explaining grammar, Ferron suddenly left Zoom.

Attention:

While (terwijl) = past continuous

When (toen) = past simple

"I was watching TV, when suddenly the door bell rang"

"While I was watching TV, the door bell suddenly rang"
