Spellingsverandering bij het maken van de -ing-vorm
- Als het werkwoord eindigt op een -e, laat je die weg:
   to lose -> losing; to have -> having 
- Als het werkwoord eindigt op een medeklinker met één klinker ervoor, dan       verdubbel je de medeklinker:
   to hit -- hitting; to get -- getting
                    Dit geldt niet als het werkwoord eindigt op een -w of een -x:
                       to snow -- snowing
- Als het werkwoord eindigt op -ie, verandert dat in -y
   to tie -> tying; to lie -> lying
