  • Understand the importance of pin curling when completing a style 
  • Complete a hair up look on a peer 
  • Introduction to Concept 'Learner of the year 2025' competition

Incompatibility Test 
Take a small cutting piece and place in 
20mls of liquid 6% (20Vol) Hydrogen peroxide with approximately 6 drops of perm lotion.
 You are checking to see if there is any fizzing, bubbles on the surface or if the hair disintegrates.

LEARNER OF THE YEAR 2025
Could YOU be the next Concept Hair Learner of the Year?
We’re excited to announce that the 2025 Concept Hair Learner of the Year competition is back!
This national competition offers up-and-coming hair stylists and barbers an opportunity to gain recognition for their exceptional creativity and skilful expertise.
Alongside the prestige of winning a national competition for the learners and colleges, the competition is completely free to enter and there are fantastic prizes to be won.
to enter: 
1. Must submit applications and category by 29th November
2. Registered competitors- submit photographic evidence 13th December - TC's apply 
3. Shortlisted entries in each category will complete in live final March 2025

Round 1: Photographic Entries

Competitors are encouraged to work on live models where possible.
Participants will submit photographic entries for Round 1. The deadline for entries into Round 1 is 13th December 2024. The organisers have the discretion to allow late entries only if there are available places.
The winners of Round 1 will compete in the live final in March 2025 and will be notified by 1st February 2025.

Hair up
Level 2 Hair Up – About the ‘Ton
Level 3 Hair Up – About the ‘Ton
Elegance redefined, bringing regency charm to life
Use any styling tools you wish
Before photos must show no plaits, twists or crimping
At least 80% of the hair must be up
You can use added hair, but this should make up no more than 30% of the style
Ornamentation can be used







Styling
Level 1 Styling – Fairytale
Level 2 Styling – Fairytale
Where magic meets style, unleash your fairytale fantasy
Hair can be styled up or down, or a combination of both, but no more than 30% can be up
Before photos must show the model’s hair dry to start
You can use ornamentation and accessories but these can make up no more than 30% of the overall style
You may not use added hair or hairpieces.

TEXTURED HAIR
Levels 2 & 3 Textured Hair – Glamour
Embrace the elegance of pure glamour in every style
Model must have hair type 3a to 4c, no wigs to be worn
Hair can be styled up or down, or a combination of both
Before photos must show the model’s hair dry to start
You can use ornamentation and accessories but these can make up no more than 30% of the overall style






AVANT-GARDE
Levels 2 & 3 Avant-Garde – Environmental Impact
Envisioning environmental impact through bold design
All styling products and tools are allowed, including heated equipment
Added and pre-prepared hair is allowed but must be connected seamlessly to existing hair and must not cover more than 50% of the entire finished head
No wigs are allowed
Model may have permanent hair extensions
Before photos must show model’s hair without preparation of the styling element (e.g. plaits and twists)
