Assignment 1: detective mystery
Scenario:
You are a detective called to investigate a burglary at a house. Here are the clues:
The window is broken.
Muddy footprints lead to the kitchen.
The safe is open, valuable items are missing.
The dog is outside, barking loudly.

Clue 1: What had happened before the burglary?
Example: "The thief had broken the window before he entered the house."
Clue 2: What had happened before the footprints appeared?
Example: "The thief had stepped in the garden mud before he entered the kitchen."
Clue 3: What had the thief done before opening the safe?
Example: "The thief had searched for the safe key before he opened it."
Clue 4: Why was the dog outside?
Example: "The thief had locked the dog outside to avoid being caught."

Picture story - Assignment 2

Write a story using the pictures, following this structure:
Picture 1: What had already happened before this moment?
Example: "By the time she started stretching, she had already put on her running shoes."
Picture 2: What had happened before the next moment?
Example: "The runners had prepared mentally before they lined up at the starting line."
Picture 3: What happened after the earlier actions?
Example: "As the race began, the crowd cheered."

For both stories:
  •  use between 100-150 words.
  • use the past perfect and past simple (in the same sentence)
at least 5 times.
  • use proper grammar
  •  avoid repeating words such as "good",  "bad",  "stuff", "things" but instead use words like marvellous, terrific, detestable, atrocious, elements, factors, etc. (Check out this website: thesaurus.com for synonyms)
  • Lastly....be creative!
