- Vorm: used to + hele werkwoord (infinitief)

Example: he used to play the guitar, but he quit.

- bij gewoonte in het verleden, die nu is gestopt:

- als iets in het verleden zo was, maar nu niet meer: 

There used to be a shop here, but they closed it.

Als je wilt zeggen dat iemand iets kan.

VERSCHIL: 

• 'can' = vaardigheden: She can play the piano very well.
• 'to be able to' = in staat zijn (formeler): I'm able to meet you after I finish my work.

• I'm not able to meet today, because I have to work.
