Present perfect

The present perfect is used for indicating that something begun in the past and is still going on.

Or to show that something still has effect right now!


It is made by:

1.  identifying the subject
2. choosing from has/have
3. past participle

We have already washed the car. It is clean now.
I have had a headache for two weeks now.
He has never been to London before.

Wout has already eaten his vegetables.

Key words: already, never, so far, recently

Modal verbs

You use can to talk about: 
  1. wat een mogelijkheid is. 
  2. wat mensen, dieren en dingen kunnen doen.
  3. toestemming.
1. Stress can ruin your life.
2. I can run a marathon
3. Can I go to the bathroom?

You use could to talk about: 
  1. what people, animals and things could do in the past; 
  2. permission in the past; 
  3. what is possible in the future.
1. I could run a marathon, but I'm old now.
2. He could have asked me first!
3. You could become a astronaut or a doctor.
