Signalen in onze omgeving. Welke signalen ken je? 

Opdracht 1 

De  stoplichten (traffic signals) werken niet.  Welk effect dit op de  verkeerssituatie? 

Opdracht 2: Leestekst over hoe je Banana Pizza maakt 

• Je krijgt zometeen 2  teksten te zien. 
• Welke tekst leest beter? 
• Wat is de functie van de onderstreepte signaalwoorden?
  

First, dissolve a package of yeast and one teaspoon of sugar in 1 cup of warm water. Add 1⁄4 cup of canola oil and a dash of salt. Slowly stir in 31⁄2 cups of flour. A soft dough will form.

Meanwhile, pre-heat the oven to 450° F.

Then transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it until it becomes smooth and elastic. Put it in a bowl, cover, and set the bowl in a warm place. In about 45 minutes, it will double. Next, press half the dough onto a greased 12” pizza pan.  Spread the dough with smooth peanut butter. Follow with banana slices and sprinkle with brown sugar.

Signaalwoorden: Reden/ verklaring 

Donna is going to bed because she is tired.  Het woord ‘want’ (because) geeft aan dat er een uitleg komt. In het tweede stukje wordt namelijk uitgelegd (dus een reden) waarom Donna gaat slapen.

Signaalwoorden/ voorwaarde 

Stel je voor dat je vader zegt:

You may go to the party  provided that  (mits) your big brother goes too.  

Dan snap je waarschijnlijk wel wat hij  bedoelt, ook al weet je niet hoe het tekstverband heet en welk signaalwoord er is gebruikt
