Labrador takes bus ride on her own to dog park
A black Labrador named Eclipse just wants to get to the dog park. So if her owner takes too long to finish his cigarette, and their bus arrives, she climbs aboard solo. The dog rides to her stop near the park. The other Seattle bus passengers are delighted to see the dog on the bus.
Miles Montgomery works for a local radio. He was amazed to see the black dog get off the bus, without an owner, at a dog park last week.
The dog and her owner, Jeff Young, live right near a bus stop. Young says, “She’s a bus-riding, sidewalk-walking dog.” Young knows that his dog sometimes gets on the bus without him. He catches up with her at the dog park three or four stops away.
Bus riders report that the dog hops onto seats next to strangers, and watches out the window for her stop. Tiona Rainwater travels regularly by bus. She says, “All the bus drivers know her … she makes everybody happy.”
A Metro Transit spokesman said that the bus company loves the fact that a dog appreciates public transport.
