De, het & een

• Not easy to explain! Nowadays we cannot determine without looking it up. 
  
  
• De-woorden  are feminine or masculine and therefore definite (de man, de vrouw, de pen).
  
  
• Het-woorden are neuter and definite (het huis, het gras).
• All diminutives (singular) are het-woorden (-je, -tje, -etje). Can you come up with one?
  
  
• Een-woorden are indefinite and can be used with almost every noun (een huis, een vrouw). How do we pronounce 'een' ?
