What does "inspire" mean?

To inspire someone means to make them feel excited or hopeful to do something amazing.

Who inspires Mrs. Fay?

Nelson Mandela!

Because he forgave people.

He worked hard to make South Africa fair for everyone. 

Mrs Fay read his story while she was travelling. 

She admires how he stayed strong and kind, even when it was hard.

Who inspires Mrs Wallace?

Terry Fox!

Terry Fox ran a very long way, even though he had an illness that made it very hard for him. He raised lots of money to help people with cancer. Mrs. Wallace grew up hearing about Terry and even took part in "Terry Fox Runs" every year at her school.

Who inspires Mrs James?

Desmond Tutu

Desmond Tutu worked hard to make sure people were treated fairly in South Africa. He believed in peace and kindness and always looked for ways to solve problems without fighting. Mrs. James even got to meet him and was amazed by how humble he was!

Kelly became a mum when she was very young, but she worked hard to look after her child and then trained to be a nurse. Now she leads a team helping people who are very unwell. Mrs. Taylor admires her bravery and determination.

Who inspires Mrs Phillips?

Paddy McGuinness

Paddy McGuinness cycled 300 miles on a very heavy and hard-to-ride bike. It wasn’t easy, and the journey had lots of steep hills, but he kept going to raise £8 million for Children in Need. Mrs. Phillips thinks this shows how much resilience and reflection he had to keep pushing forward.

Who inspires Mrs Alvers?

Clive Stafford Smith 

Clive Stafford Smith works to help people who have been treated unfairly. He fights against the death penalty and believes everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect. Mrs. Alvers admires how he stands up for what he believes in.

Who inspires Mrs Boddy?

Chris McCausland

Chris McCausland lost his sight but learned to dance beautifully on Strictly Come Dancing. He worked hard to learn steps with his partner, Dianne Buswell, who changed her teaching style to help him. Mrs. Boddy admires their teamwork and determination.

Who inspires Miss McLaughlin?

Freddie Flintoff

Freddie Flintoff helped young people learn to believe in themselves. He worked with a group of teenagers, taught them teamwork, and even took them to India to play cricket. I admire how he inspired them to be their best.
