je kunt like en as gebruiken om vergelijkingen te maken.

* like gebruiken we bij zelfstandig naamwoorden
* as bij bijzinnen en in combinatie met voorzetsels

As in 2014, the band topped the charts.

Je kunt like en as gebruiken om vergelijkingen mee te maken. Je vertaalt deze woorden met 'net als' of 'zoals'.

Reflexive pronouns
Reflexive pronouns worden gebruikt om te zeggen dat de persoon die de actie uitvoert, deze ook ondergaat.
 

Het onderwerp en het lijdend voorwerp zijn dezelfde persoon.
She made herself dinner.
I poured myself a drink.
We drove ourselves home.

Reciprocal pronouns
Reciprocal pronouns worden gebruikt om een wederzijdse relatie uit te drukken.
 

Het wederkerig vnw verwijst naar het onderwerp van de zin.
They are talking to each other.
We will always love one another.
Sarah and Marvin always help each other.

Uitzonderingen
Reflexive pronouns gebruik je niet na werkwoorden als wash, dress en shave, tenzij je nadruk wilt leggen op wie het doet.
(Deze werkwoorden gaan over acties die mensen meestal voor zichzelf doen)

Reciprocal pronouns gebruik je niet na werkwoorden als hug, marry en kiss.
(Deze werkwoorden geven al aan dat de handeling van beide kanten komt.
