Adverbs vs Adjectives
An adjective describes a noun or pronoun: "That boy is so loud!"

An adverb describes a verb or anything apart from a noun and pronoun: "That boy speaks so loudly!" 

Adverbs are used to answer "how" questions e.g. "How does he talk? - He talks loudly."

How are adverbs formed
Adverbs are used to describe verbs, adjectives or other adverbs. They are often (but not always) made by adding 'ly' to the adjective.

I walked slowly ('slowly' tells us about the verb 'walk').
They worked quickly.

Irregular adverbs
Some adverbs do not follow the regular rule. They are called irregular. e.g.
  1. a good player -  he played well
  2. an early bird - he rises early
  3. A fast car - she runs fast
  4. Maths is hard - the kid tried hard
