Horizontal composition

  • Viewing direction  from left to right, or the other way around. 
  • Elements are placed horizontally.

Vertical composition

  • Viewing direction is from top to bottom or bottom to top  VV
  • Elements are placed vertically .

Diagonal composition

  • Viewing direction is from top left to bottom right.  VV
  • Elements are placed diagonal.

  • The most important subject is placed in the centre.
  • It leads your attention to the middle.

  • The focus is nowhere specific.
  • Elements are spread out over the surface.

  • Focus goes to the middle, from there you look from left to right and VV.

Assignment: Collage
  • We will fold a big "Booklet" from a big paper. 
  • Write down the 7 compositions in the booklet. You can do that in a creative way. Make sure it looks good anyway. 
  • For each composition you will make a small collage, glue that into your booklet. 
  • Cut out a couple images of the same subject. For example 5 cars, 7 bottles or 6 people. Cut them out carefully.  So no square shaped images! Make sure you cut out a couple of images of each topic. Don't spend too much time on the cutting part though!
  • You make little themed collages in the given composition. Use the pencil pictures as inspiration.

Pay attention
  • Make sure you have pictures within the same theme, they can all be different in size.
  • Make sure you cut out the pictures neatly and that these are not square shaped. 
  • Write the correct words for the different compositions.  
  • Make interesting collages
  • 2 lessons (today and next week)
  • Be careful with glue please. 
  • The first composition is on the front of your booklet! (make it the best one)
