Must betekent moeten. Je gebruikt het​ als jijzelf vindt dat iets wel of niet moet.​

​Should betekent zou moeten​

Als je vindt dat iets juist niet moet of zou moeten, gebruik je ​

mustn’t en shouldn’t.​

​

They shouldn’t be scared, it will be all right.​

He mustn’t say those things, it’s mean.​

To have to betekent ook moeten. Je gebruikt have to en has to om aan te geven dat iemand anders vindt dat iets moet. ​

You have to go to bed at 9.30. Mum said so.​

Everybody has to pay taxes, it’s the law.​

Let op! Als je have to in ontkennende zinnen gebruikt​

verandert de betekenis van moeten in niet hoeven. Daarmee​
