Shared history
The Jewish people share a history together. These historical origins are considered to be very important.
This shared history is one of the hallmarks of Judaism: no other religion stresses the importance of history this much.
This has to do with the two concepts of Judaism:
Judaism as a monotheistic religion
Judaism as a group of people (a nation)

monotheistic religion
consists in the belief in one God, who is rendered to be supremely powerful, supremely good and supremely all-knowing.

As a nation, they stress the importance of their shared history.
Becoming a Jew as non-Jewish person is really difficult. The concept of family heritage remains paramount.
