What is gravity?

Gravity - a force between two objects due to their mass and size. The objects are pulled towards each other.

What are some examples you can think of?

Earth's gravity

Earth is very large, it has a large gravitational force, 

It interacts with other objects and pulls them towards earth.

This is essential for life on earth:

• We don’t float away. 
• The air we breathe stays in our atmosphere.

Moon's gravity

Though the moon’s gravitational force is only ⅙ as large as earth's it still affects life on earth

• The moon’s gravity pulls on the water in the ocean 
• This pull changes as the earth rotates and makes the tides

Gravity in the universe.

Everything that has mass has a gravitational force.

• The sun’s gravitational force holds all the planets in the solar system in orbit
• Gravity creates, stars, planets and black holes too!
