Introduction: hook, contextualization, thesis statement
      Thesis statement: geeft standpunt weer

Body: minimum of three paragraphs, each consisting out of a topic sentence, examples/sources 

Conclusion: repetition of main points, restating thesis, clincher

Explanation test 
During the test you will write an English essay of about 500 words

You will be given the topic, and some arguments. You will also have to think of an argument yourself. 

You will not be allowed to look things up on the Internet during the test, but you will be allowed to use a dictionary Dutch-English

Example
Write an essay of 500 words. You can either be pro or con, or you can give both sides of the story. 

Topic: Should we conceal our real identities on the web? 

Arguments:
- Anonymously voicing your opinion is easier 
- Everybody always knows what you are doing online
- You are able to choose different identities 
- ... 

Choose two of the arguments above  to write about in your essay; also, think of one argument yourself. 

Remember to use a well-constructed thesis statemen; write an introduction, three body paragraphs and a conclusion. 
During class you and your classmates had a discussion about the following topic: Should we conceal our real identities on the web? During the discussion you made some notes, which you now have to use to write an essay about the same topic. In your essay you can either be pro of con, or you can give both sides of the story.

How will your essay be graded? 
Use of rubrics, i.e. you can score a certain amount of points for each topic 

Grading your vocabulary, grammar, sentence construction, spelling, contents, essay structure

This means that you cannot only fail by making a lot of spelling errors.

What to do? 
Many of you have not yet finished and handed in their essays, which were due today. So make sure you finish these for Thursday!
