Goal Scavenger Hunt

  1. To make you familiar with the author and the ideas behind The Wild Robot so that you understand and perhaps appreciate the book better. 
  2. In addition to this, it will also be a good way to train yourself to find good online resources.

Some tips
  • look at the context (what is context ?)
  • look at the different parts of the word, c.f. predetermined
  • use a dictionary (online: VanDale.nl, Lexico.com)
  • for slang words: urbandictionary.com
  • keep a list of unknown words and their meaning(s)

Some tips
Scan the texts:
  • you do not need to read and/or understand every word;
  • let your eyes move quickly across the text untill you find what you are looking for;
  • use clues on the page (headlines, titles, pictures);
  • see if there is an idea behind the way that the information is ordered (c.f. chronological, alphabethical, etc.);
