Past continuous

Je gebruikt de past continuous om aan te geven dat je ergens mee bezig was op een bepaald moment in het verleden. Je zegt dus dat je iets aan het doen was.

Je gebruikt de past continuous dus alleen als je kunt zeggen dat je iets aan het doen was.

The math teacher was giving a test

The principal was sitting in his office

Je maakt de past continuous door was of were voor het werkwoord te zetten en –ing er achter

I was sleeping

You were living

He/she/it was swimming

We were going

You were doing

They were having

Ontkenningen:  was not / were not + ing                                                   

I wasn’t talking
 

You weren’t looking
 

She wasn’t driving
 

We/you/they  weren’t walking

Vragen maken: Begin de vraagzin met was / were.
