Food is made out of molecules.
Nutrients
are food molecules.
There are seven types of nutrients:

are for building and energy.
Sugars are small carbohydrates (glucose)
Starches are large carbohydrates

Lipids
are fats and they are used for energy.
Lipids contain twice as much energy as carbohydrates.
They are used for energy storage.

we only need in small amounts and help to keep us healthy
Examples are calcium for strong bones and iron for your red blood cells.
