we're going to watch a video about someone who deliberately  breaks ancient British Laws.. They are often ridiculous. At one point the video will stop and you'll have to name 3 laws that have been broken.

Possessives (bezit)

To indicate possession (om bezit aan te geven) 

Eén dier of één persoon: (enkelvoud)

1. My sister's car was cleaned yesterday 

2. My father's work is a fifteen-minute drive from here.

3. The dog's puppies were sold by the owner eventually.

4. The Cheetah's  cubs were shot by the hunter.  

Meervoud

Als een woord op een -s eindigt in het meervoud, dan krijg je een ' (hoge komma/apostrof) 

(one sister - two sisters) 

-My sisters' cars were bought at that dealer over there.

- My friends' ideas are quite good actually. 

Dus niet: My sisters's cars......

Als een woord niet op een -s eindigt in het meervoud, dan krijg je wél een 's. 

- The children's toys were lying all over the floor.

- The people's stolen belongings were delivered by the police officer. 

'of'

Bij het 'bezit van dingen'. 

-The smell of shampoo (de geur van shampoo)

- The roof of the building was damaged. (het dak van het gebouw)

Bij geografische locaties

- The capital of Switzerland is Bern. (de hoofdstad van Zwitserland)

- The City of Kampen is well-known for its beautiful architecture. (de stad Kampen -> lastig vertalen van NL-ENG)
