CAE vs CITO

1. Cito is mostly texts and their various types of questions assessing your comprehension

2. CAE tests, however, are designed differently. They consist of multiple parts, most of which evaluate your skills beyond just text comprehension!

CAE Reading and UOE in baby talk:

Part 1 - fill in the gap

Part 2 - guess what is in the gap

Part 3 - transform words to fit in the gap

Part 4 - be bullied by the gap (also often the most difficult Cambridge task type)

Part 5 - good ole reading text and questions

Part 6 - matching bits of texts to readers/reviewers/speakers/etc

Part 7 - filling gaps but with paragraphs to form a cohesive storyline

Part 1: Multiple choice cloze

For questions 1-8, read the text below and decide which answer (A, B, C or D) best fits each gap. There is an example at the beginning (0).

Part 3: Word formation

For questions 17-24, read the text below. Use the word given in capitals at the end of some of the lines to form a word that fits in the gap in the same line. There is an example at the beginning (0).

Part 4: Key word transformation

For questions 25-30, complete the second sentence so that it has a similar meaning to the first sentence, using the word given. Do not change the word given. You must use between three and six words, including the word given.
