Hoe maken we de past simple?

Past Simple

De Past Simple gebruik je als iets is afgelopen in het verleden.

In het Nederlands noemen we dat 'de verleden tijd'.  

Past Simple

Regelmatige werkwoorden:
Stam + ed

I walked

he/she/it walked

they walked

we walked

you walked

VB: They walked home from the cinema last night.  

Onregelmatige werkwoorden:

See - saw -seen

am/is/are - was/were - been

do - did - done

They saw the movie Uncharted last night.

Past Simple & Past Continuous

Deze twee tijden kan je in dezelfde zin gebruiken. Je wilt dan aangeven dat iets gebeurde (Past Simple) terwijl er al iets anders aan de gang was (Past Continuous.

I was studying when the doorbell rang.

Soms gebeuren er ook 2 dingen tegelijker tijd die langer duren. 

Dit herken je vaak aan while*

Dan gebruik je 2x de past continuous

We were watching a film, while they were playing videogames.

Henry was doing the dishes, while his mother was talking on the phone.

Let op!

Soms staat er while in de zin, maar gaat het niet om 2 lange handelingen.
