Sometimes he quickly records nice sounds and then uses them. For instance, the buzzing of a cable that hung loose became a deep bass line in one of his new songs. 
At times, he so engaged in his music that he doesn’t notice much else. Therefore, I can easily surprise him. If I sneak up to him quietly, he will not notice until I am right behind him.
