Yes/No questions
There are two ways to form a question in the present simple.

Rule 1:


With the verb to be and auxiliary verbs like can, may and will, you place the verb at the beginning of the sentence.

Examples:

Are you our teacher miss Koolwijk?

Can you tell what is the time?

May I go to the toilet?

Rule 2:

With any other (main) verb, you add an extra verb to the beginning of the sentence: to do (do or does). The main verb changes to the infinitive.
Example:

Do you like swimming?

Does he want to play the piano?

Do they do their homework?

There are 2 ways to make a negative sentence rule
 1:
 am/are/is and can
add not or  n't after these verbs
Example: 

I am in class today
I am not in class today
You are at home
You are not at home

With other verbs
add do not/ don't or does not/ doesn't and use the verb without to
Example:

I like English
I do not like English
He knows the answers
He does not know the answer
I have a brother
I don't have a brother
