Possessive (1)
You use ’s to indicate possession with:
– singular forms;
– names of persons and animals, also if they end in -s already;
– plural forms that don’t end in -s;
– expressions which indicate time

  • Sydney is not Australia's capital.
  • She often visits the club's website.
  • That is Thomas’s/Thomas’ bike. (both are correct!)

Plural names of people, animals and things ending in -s only get a ’.

Examples:
  • The giraffes’ necks.
  • My parents’ house.
  • The elephants’ ears.
