Slide 1 - Slide

Follow the steps
  • Timer? Use it, so you can see how much time it will take you
  • A 'hotspot'? Click on it and get extra information or the answer
  • Always write the calculations and answer in your notebook as well
  • It is easier when you use your phone, because you need to take pictures.
  • Mind the notation of your answers --> 0.25 dm and not 0,25 dm or 0.25dm

This is a hotspot
It can have a different picture. Click on it and it will give you extra information or answers.

Slide 2 - Slide

Make a note and copy this

1 kilometre (km) = 1000 m (kilo = thousand)
1 hectometre (hm) = 100 m (hector = hundred)
1 decametre (dam) = 10 m (deca = ten)
1 decimetre (dm) = 0.1 m (deci = one tenth)
1 centimetre (cm) = 0.01 m (centi = one hundredth)
1 millimetre (mm) = 0.001 m (milli = one thousandth)

timer
2:00

Slide 3 - Slide

Goal
  • I can 'Perform calculations with length'
  • I can 'Copy and fill in'
  • I can 'Check and correct my work'

Slide 4 - Slide

Convert 0.25 dam to km
See p. 114
How many steps do you need to take?
Do you divide or multiply?

0.25 dam = ..... hm = ..... km
Two steps and you need to divide. So 0.25 : 10 : 10 = 0........

Slide 5 - Open question

Convert 0.25 m to dm
See p. 114
How many steps do you need to take?
Do you divide or multiply?

0.25 m = ..... dm
One step and you need to multiply. So 0.25 x 10  = ........

Slide 6 - Open question

Calculate
2 km + 3 dam + 1 hm = .......m

Make sure you write down a 'calculation = answer', so
for instance '20 m + 3000 m + 0.1 m = 3020.1 m' and not just 3020.1.
Be aware, I did not convert the correct way, but you will off course. ;-)
Example
3 dm + 1.5 m + 45 mm = .....cm
30 cm + 150 cm + 4.5 cm = 184.5 cm

Slide 7 - Open question

A stack of paper of 500 sheets is 5.0 cm high.
What is the thickness of one sheet of paper in mm?
Need some help?
  • Convert to mm first.
  • Then divide.
  • Does your answer make sense? How thick is a normal sheet of paper?
timer
2:00
A
10 mm
B
1 mm
C
0.01 mm
D
0.1 mm

Slide 8 - Quiz

How much cm ribbon do you need
for this gift box?
Hints
  1. First convert all lengths to cm.
  2. How many parts of the ribbon are 50 cm?
  3. Do the same for the other lenghts and add them.
timer
3:00
A
94 cm
B
400 cm
C
200 cm
D
No correct answer is given at A, B and C

Slide 9 - Quiz

Work on...
  • exercises 6, 7 and 8 on p. 115
  • Additional exercises E1 and E2 (see stencil '1TTO C5 Exercises on Magister.me)
  • Check your work after 8 minutes with a different colour
  • Copy HW in your planner
  • HW: Do ex. 6, 7 and 8 on p. 115 + E1 and E2 (stencil)

timer
8:00

Slide 10 - Slide

I have checked my work, I worked hard and I feel like this about my work
😒🙁😐🙂😃

Slide 11 - Poll

Why did you choose that emoji?
Give at least one reason.
timer
1:00
Need help finding a reason?
  • It is easy, because I did this last year in school.
  • I find it difficult, because I cannot divide with decimal numbers.
  • I chose the happiest smile, because I checked and corrected my work with a different colour.
  • I chose the smiley in the middle, because it was to easy and boring.

Slide 12 - Open question
