We hebben het al eerder gehad over het lidwoord 'the' (grammatica 4.3). Soms moet je deze wel gebruiken en soms niet.

Bij algemene begrippen gebruik je

1. geen 'the'
2. wel 'the'

Bij specifieke begrippen (die dus verder uitgelegd worden) gebruik je

1. geen 'the'
2. wel 'the'

Bij gebouwen gebruik je alleen 'the'

1. als het gaat om de functie van het gebouw
2. als het gaat om het gebouw zelf.

Bij namen van beroemde gebouwen gebruik je

1. geen 'the'
2. wel 'the'

The best time is in ... autumn.

1. the
2. zero article

... life is beautiful.

1. the
2. zero article

I need to go to ... hospital

1. the
2. zero article

Nu: congruentie (subject-verb agreement) 

In een van de lessen hebben we het gehad over congruentie. 

Dit betekende dat jouw onderwerp overeen moest komen met het werkwoord. (grammatica 4.3)

Wat is een voorbeeld van een persoonsvorm in het enkelvoud?

Een enkelvoudige persoonsvorm is dus:

1. hele werkwoord
2. werkwoord + ing
3. werkwoord + to
4. werkwoord + ed

Een enkelvoudig onderwerp krijgt:

1. enkelvoudige persoonsvorm
2. meervoudige persoonsvorm

Het woord 'police' krijgt altijd:

1. enkelvoudige persoonsvorm
2. meervoudige persoonsvorm
