The Story of an Hour: Do you think Mr. Mallard mistreated his wife? In your answer, use at least one example from the text.

Slide 6 - Open question

Do you think Mr. Mallard mistreated his wife? Explain your answer with an example.
The text states Mr Mallard “had a powerful will bending her” which might indicate (mental) abuse. On the other hand, the text also mentions that Mr Mallard “had never looked save with love upon her”.
Their relationship might be one of mutual understanding/convenience, even though Mr Mallard often enforced his will upon his wife – not uncommon in 19th-century marriages.
