I walked towards it (in order) to see what was wrong (with it).
It turned out (that) the puppy had broken its paw. / It turned out that it had a broken paw.
The puppy was crying and it was in a lot of pain.

It's about a couple on holiday. They go hiking in Switzerland and drive their car up a steep road. After they take a sharp turn, they see a body on the road.
Their phones have no reception and there's no one around. They decide to go to the top, to their hotel, and inform the staff there. The staff inform the police, who go in search of the body. However, the body is gone.
On one occasion, I was hiking in Switzerland myself. I got lost and everything started to look very mysterious. After I had walked around for over an hour, I found my way back to my hotel.
