Review 

In your review you must include: 

• 6 literary terms -> see literary terms file in your studiewijzer
  

1. Highlight these literary terms in your review

Review how do you write one? 

This is roughly how to structure a review. Write between 140 – 190 words:

• Meer woorden mag altijd!  
  

1. intro (title/author/setting/main characters),
   
2. brief description (some main events) don’t give away the ending!
   
3. opinion (how do you feel about the story), Did you think it was entertaining, humorous characters, boring, etc.
   
4. (overall) recommendations: I highly recommend this book because…
   

       I would not recommend this book because…….

3 categories: Content (inhoud), Organization (organisatie), Language (taal)

Content:  

did the student express his/her opinion by using at least 6 literary terms? Did they express their opinion thoughtfully and logically?

was the use of grammar/spelling flawed in such a way that it hindered communication, or was it almost always correct?

  

Common mistakes 

Veel gemaakte fouten bij het schrijven van een review

• Wanneer je zegt ‘I’ als in ‘ik’ dan moet je deze altijd met een hoofdletter schrijven!
  
• Namen van plaatsen of personen schrijf je ook altijd met een hoofdletter -> London, Bob
  
• Gebruik “an” als het woord begint met het geluid van a, e, i, o, u: an apple, an open window, an egg, an hour, etc
• Gebruik “a” als het woord begint met een ander geluid: a marriage, a child, a dog, uniform, etc. 
• De literary terms zoals setting, mood, theme, etc moeten verwerkt worden in je tekst, je kan niet alleen bovenaan zetten: Setting: Backyard. Je moet er een zin van maken zoals: This story takes place in the backyard.
  

Common mistakes 

• Gebruik volledige en vloeiende zinnen in je review; gebruik linking words, en leg uit waarom je het boek bijvoorbeeld stom vond!
  
• Let goed op punten en comma’s, hier kijk in naar tijdens het nakijken!
  
• Wanneer je wilt zeggen ‘het is’ in het Engels zeg je ‘ it is’ of it’s. Je zeg niet ‘its’. Zo gebruik je its: the puppy rubbed its nose. Its gebruik je om bezit, eigendom, etc aan te duiden. 
• Wanneer je een zin begint met een linking word zoals ‘ personally’, ‘however’ of ‘furthermore’ Schrijf je altijd een comma (,) achter het woord; Personally, I think the story was very interesting.
