Past simple
Something important that happened in the past;
Recognized by words like "Yesterday, last year, this morning, in 2013";
Regular verbs: word + -ed;
For example, "Called, helped, played";
Irregular verbs have different forms (learn by heart);
For example, "ran, sang, bought"

Negative and question sentences:
Did/didn't + verb;
For example, "Did you buy that?" "I didn't buy that."

Special cases regular verbs:
Ending in "-y" -> "-ied"
For example, "Try" becomes "Tried"
Ending in "-e" -> +-d
For example, "Arrange" becomes "Arranged"
Ending in short vowel -> double consonant + -ed
For example, "Plan" becomes "Planned"
More than one syllable + ending in "l" -> double "l" + -ed
For example, "Travel" becomes "Travelled"

When something belongs to someone you use:
Singular: 's (Peter's rabbit.)
Plural: ' (the boys' cat.)
Animals and people

The cat's tail.
The entrance of the plane.
The girls' books.
