Learning Targets

You will be able  to identify and analyze stylistic

devices  in literature which will help you deepen you understanding of the  novel and will help you improve your writing skills.

Alliteration is:

1. The repetition of a consonant sound, particularly the initial consonants of two or more words.
2. The repetition of a vowel sound in two or more words.
3. An obvious exaggeration made for effect.
4. A series of brief shots that work together to convey a particular meaning.

Alliteration example:

Peter Piper picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers

Which is "alliteration"

Alliteration is the repetition of initial sounds
the other answers are hyperbole (starving to death)
irony (a bank director should know how to spend his money) and simile (a comparisson using "like")
