How does friction effect motion?

  • Friction is the force between two surfaces in contact with each other

  • Friction is caused by the difference in texture between the surfaces and by adhesion (the surfaces slightly sticking to each other)

  • We express friction in Newtons 

  • Friction always acts in the direction opposite to the movement
