De past simple en de past continuous kun je in één zin gebruiken. 
De activiteit die dan het langst duurt, is de past continuous.
De activiteit die dan het kortst duurt, is de past simple.

For example:
I was talking on the phone when the doorbell rang.
The power went off while they were watching tv.
He was walking home when he slipped on a banana peel.

Er is dus geen vaste volgorde wat eerst gebeurd. Lees de zin dus goed door om te bepalen wat er aan de gang was toen -x- gebeurde
