What is a gerund?

A gerund

A verb used as a noun.

Go -> going

Werkwoord + ing

To like, to love, to miss, to avoid, to hate

"I hate going to the dentist."

"I like eating cookies."

A to- infinitive

to + hele werkwoord

to want, to promise, to expect, to decide, to plan, to hope, to ask, to refuse

"I refuse to work in these conditions."

"He told me to ask for a refund."

To - infinitive (2)

De to infinitive kan ook na een lijdend voorwerp komen:

"He asked them to finish their plates."
