What is the past simple

De verleden tijd noemen we in het Engels de Past Simple.

We gebruiken de Past Simple als iets in het verleden is gebeurd en er een (verleden) tijdsbepaling in de zin staat.​

 Clear indication of past time!

Regular verbs (WW)

Walk-> Walked

Love-> Loved 

Live-> Lived 

Regular verb  ww + (e)d​

Example:  I walked to school yesterday.​

       to walk= regular werkwoord​

Sing-> Sang

1. Werkwoorden die eindigen op een medeklinker + –y op het einde. -> -ied​

Example: to try -> he tried​
