What are adverbs?
Wat zijn bijwoorden?

Adverb - bijwoord

Definitie: Een bijwoord geeft aan HOE iets gebeurt (hoe snel, hoe vaak, hoe mooi etc).

Examples: never, always, ever, only, also, already, probably, really, just, usually, still

What is an adverb?

Een 'adverb' (bijwoord) is een omschrijvend woord dat iets zegt over een 'verb'(werkwoord) , een bijvoegelijk naamwoord of een ander bijwoord 

example: I hardly sing 

Place of the Adverb

1. In het algemeen VOOR het bijvoegelijk naamwoord of een ander bijwoord.

For example: 

This new video game is about to become

extremely popular.

     He works really seriously on the magazine.

2. VOOR het hoofdwerkwoord!

For example: 

She usually works from home.

I never go on my bike to school on Wednesdays.

3. Maar NA een vorm van 'to be' 

am - are - is - was - were

For example:

I am truly sorry!

We are normally home on time.

When the verb 'be' is used in the sentence (am, are, is) the adverb of frequency comes after the verb
