Slide 9 - Slide

Interview
  • An interview is a recorded conversation between two or more people about a certain topic

  • The main types of interviews you probably know are between Sports Stars, Actors and famous Musicians. You can see these very often on shows like the ‘Late Late' Show.

  • Though there are other types of interviews that you might not be aware of like Job Interviews or Psychological Interviews, we will be mainly focusing on the interviews between famous celebrities and or other people of fame.

Slide 10 - Slide

Roleplay
  • A scripted performance from a play or one that is created from the imagination of a certain scenario where the student/students must act out the scene accordingly.

  • The material that can be adapted for the Roleplay can vary from certain scenes from plays, novels, films and or T.V shows or the students may want to create certain scenarios and allow themselves to come up with the script themselves.

Slide 11 - Slide

Flow
  • This is the way the Interview goes steadily (nicely) from question to question, topic to topic

  • This is not jumping from talking about the Interviewee’s childhood to asking questions about their late career

Slide 12 - Slide

Probing Questions
  • These are questions that try and get more information out of an answer.
  • For example: 'Could you tell me more about that?' or 'Please explain what you mean.

Slide 13 - Slide

Formal
  • Being Formal means that you act in a very official and mannerly way, like how you would talk and act towards a teacher, parent, or Garda

Slide 14 - Slide

Informal
Being Informal is the way you act and behave in a less serious way. This is the way you would act around your friends, siblings (brothers and sisters), and sports teammates

Slide 15 - Slide

Time to Watch!
Now we are going to watch an Interview with the famous Irish Youtuber, JacksepticEye (who has over 28 million Subscribers) who was Interviewed by Ryan Tubridy on ‘The Late Late Show’.  After we watch it I want you to answer the question on the next slide.

Slide 16 - Slide

Questions from Interview

I want yous to write the questions in your copies and answer them there

  • Was this interview Formal or Informal and why?
  • Was there a good use of Flow? Where did you see it?
  • Was there use of Probing Questions and where?
  • Did you enjoy the interview and would you use it for your CBA1?

What Makes A Good Roleplay?
For a good Roleplay there must be an inherent knowledge of the script and to try to eradicate a percentage of asking for lines and or help from the other students. You may interact with the audience if you see fit to do so. The most important thing for a Roleplay is to show that they understand the material they created or adapted, this can be done by watching other performances online.
