Self-study

Make the following activity:

Use the past simple. 

1. He rode his bike to school yesterday.
   
2. She (write) ___ a beautiful poem last week.
   
3. They (visit) ___ the museum on Saturday.
   
4. I (clean) ___ the entire house yesterday.
   
5. The dog (bark) ___ loudly in the evening.

9. He fixed the broken window last month.
   
10. I swam in the ocean during the summer vacation.

Past simple regular verbs:

• Bij regelmatige werkwoorden in de past simple zet je -ed achter de stam. 
• Uitzonderingen: Er zijn 4 uitzonderingen waarbij je niet zomaar '-ed' achter de stam kan plakken. (zoals: die = died, travel = travelled, try =  tried, banned)

Past simple irregular verbs:

• Bij onregelmatige werkwoorden in de past simple vervoeg je elk werkwoord op een andere manier. 
• Uitzondering: to be. Bij to be heb je 2 vormen in de verleden tijd: was/were.

Hoe maak je de Past Continuous?

to be (was/were) + hele ww + ing

Het lijkt op de present continuous!

'Adam is doing his homework.'

Past continuous (gebruik):

• Je gebruikt de past continuous om te praten over iets in het verleden dat een langere tijd heeft geduurd.

Past continuous (maken):

• Je maakt de past continuous door een vorm van to be (was/ were) + hele ww + ing in de zin te zetten.
