Is de zin bevestigend (+) dan is de tag question ontkennend (-), en andersom.

 

She sure can (+) plan parties, can't (-) she?

She can't (-) come, can (+) she?

Staat er een vorm van to be of een hulpwerkwoord in de zin? Dan maak je de tag question met hetzelfde werkwoord.

 

You are going to the party, aren't you?

They couldn't afford it, could they?

Geen vorm van to be of een hulpwerkwoord? Dan gebruik je do, does of did in de tag question.

 

He got there early, didn't he?
