Passive sentences in 5 steps
Identify the subject, verb and object
Identify the tense by looking at the verb
Use object as new subject
Add form of 'to be' and change verb into past participle
Add rest of the sentence and agent if needed
The lion bit the man. --> The man was bitten by the lion.

- To emphasise the 'victim' of an action
- When the 'agent' is irrelevant or unknown
The man was bitten by the lion.
