Planning
- Doing research?
- Research question 1
  • Taste
  • Steps of doing research
- Research questions 2 & 3
  • making graphs

Slide 2 - Slide

Learning goals
  1. you can apply the different steps of scientific research
  2. you understand the basics of taste
  3. you can draw a correct graph

Doing Research

  • same format

  • Finding the truth

  • Others have to find the same results

Slide 4 - Slide

Research Question?
You would like to know the answer to the research question

examples:
  1. Is there a taste difference between the different colored skittles?
  2. Do the bags have the same amount of skittles?
  3. Are the different colored skittles evenly divided in the bags?

Slide 5 - Slide

The question you want answered.

Dit is een moeilijke zinsopbouw.
Misschien: You would like to know the answer to the research question

Taste
Mouth:
Sweet, Sour, Bitter, Salty and Umami

Nose:
Complex smells lead to  complex tastes

Hypothesis
  • Possible answers on research question
  • Based on theory
  • What answer to your research question do you expect?

Slide 8 - Slide

3e punt toegevoegd
Write down the hypothesis for this research question: Is there a taste difference between the different colored skittles?

Slide 9 - Open question

This item has no instructions

Method
A detailed description of how you want to do your research.

- As detailed as possible
- The next person has to do exact the same thing
- Don't forget to think about how you want to store your results

Slide 10 - Slide

Eat a colored skittle, one at a time.
Rinse your mouth with water between eating the skittles.
Grab your materials.
Eat a colored skittle, which is another color.
State if the skittle tastes different than the other skittle.
etc.
