Questions in the Present Simple

Slide 6 - Slide

Present Simple: questions
Wanneer er een vorm van to be of to have got of to can in de zin staat dan verplaatst deze naar het begin van de zin om de vraag te maken.
examples:
He can run very fast.                  Can he run very fast?
That cat is furry.                            Is that cat furry?
My favourite colour is pink      Is my favourite colour pink?
They are the best.                         Are they the best?

Slide 7 - Slide

PRESENT SIMPLE: QUESTIONS
We gebruiken het werkwoord to do ook om vraagzinnen te maken.
De werkwoorden to be en to have got  (en andere hulpwerkwoorden) zijn uitzonderingen op deze standaardregel.

Het werkwoord to do wordt als volgt vervoegd:
  • I /you/we/they       do      :    I like ice cream               Do I like ice cream?
  • He/ she/it                does  :    She likes icecream      Does she like icecream?

Slide 8 - Slide

PRESENT SIMPLE: QUESTIONS
Bij vragen begint de zin met Do of Does

I feel sad. -> Do you feel sad?
He looks sad. -> Does he look sad?

Let op: omdat we het werkwoord to do vervoegen voor he / she / it (does), zetten we het andere werkwoord in de volledige werkwoordsvorm. Looks -> look. Er mag dus maar 1 werkwoord in de zin vervoegd worden.
