Direct questions
Meaning:
Informal questions, mostly to people you already know.

Form:
Just a question. Can start with a 'wh' word (which, where, what, when)...?
How/how long...? Do/does/did etc...?

Example:
When are we going to watch Inside out 2?
Did you watch Inside out 2?

Indirect questions
Meaning:
Formal questions, mostly to people you don't know.

Form:
It is still a question, but with extra words to be POLITE

Example:
Can you tell me when we are going to watch Inside out 2? 
I was wondering if you watched Inside out 2?
Could you tell...?             I was wondering if...?                 Can I ask...?                      
 Can you tell...?                             Do you know...?             Do you have any idea...?
