So do not use:  isn’t, it’s of won’t, but:
is not, it is en will not. Gonna and wanna  are a definite NO GO!


For names of magazines or newspapers, use quotation marks. The ‘Telegraaf’.

  1. Make it neat.
  2. Use signal words and the appropriate tenses, wherever necessary
  3. Use paragraphs ( and use blank lines to clearly separate them)
  4. Use a difficult grammar item every now and then (passive, relative clauses)

Kijk/luisteren VWO Engels
  • globaal kijken: hier mag je de vragen nog niet lezen. Je kijkt/luistert naar het fragment, maakt aantekeningen en dan beantwoord je de vragen.
  • intensief kijken/luisteren: wat jullie gewend zijn. Je luistert naar een fragment en vervolgens beantwoord je 1 vraag. 
  • voorspellend luisteren: je mag de vragen lezen en voorspelt wat de spreker gaat zeggen. Steeds 2 opties. 
  • selectief luisteren : je krijgt fragmenten te horen die iets langer zijn. Elk fragment heeft 2/3 vragen. Je beantwoord de vragen achter elkaar. Je mag hierbij aantekeningen maken.

How to practice? 
  • Practice listening at B2/C1 level in Holmwoods
  • Practice listening/watching in Woots. You can also practice at skilllevel 1-3. 
  • Watch a lot of Netflix series like: The Crown (without subtitles or with English subtitles), Planet Earth. Practice with English accents that you find difficult.

De docent evalueert samen met de leerlingen het leren en het gedrag op basis van het Learner Profile en de ATL-skills. Dit wordt vastgelegd in Toddle. Samen blikken docent en leerlingen vooruit aan de hand van de JdW-planner.
